An Educational Journey Through Athens & Delphi
Bring classroom subjects into focus on a Greece educational tour connecting the monuments of Athens with the ancient sanctuary of Delphi. Designed for schools, universities and educational travel partners, this five-day programme introduces themes of democracy, mythology, religion, art and archaeology through guided visits and time for discussion.
From the Acropolis and its museum to the Ancient Agora and Delphi’s sanctuary of Apollo, students encounter the places and objects that help explain ancient Greek society. Four nights in Athens provide a consistent base, while a full-day excursion introduces the landscapes of central Greece.
The programme can be adapted to the group’s age, subject focus and academic objectives. Teacher-led activities and specialist visits should be agreed during planning.
Tour Highlights
- Explore the Acropolis and Acropolis Museum.
- Examine public life and civic institutions at the Ancient Agora.
- Visit the National Archaeological Museum.
- Discover Delphi’s sanctuary and Archaeological Museum.
- Include planned opportunities for teacher-led discussion.
- Stay in Athens throughout the programme.

Day 2 – Acropolis, Acropolis Museum & Historic Athens
Begin with a guided introduction to Athens, connecting its ancient heritage with the modern capital. See Syntagma Square, the Hellenic Parliament and the Panathenaic Stadium before continuing to the Acropolis.
Explore the Parthenon, Propylaea and Erechtheion while considering the relationship between religious belief, civic identity and monumental architecture. Your guide will introduce the historical context of fifth-century BC Athens and the people who shaped its development.
Continue to the Acropolis Museum, where sculpture and archaeological discoveries provide further context for the monuments above. Allow time for teacher-led observation or discussion before a walk through the historic Plaka district.
Overnight in Athens.
Day 3
Day 3 – Delphi: Sanctuary, Oracle & Archaeology
Depart early for a full-day excursion to Delphi, travelling through central Greece towards Mount Parnassus. Explore the sanctuary of Apollo and follow the Sacred Way past the remains of monuments dedicated by ancient communities.
Discuss the oracle’s influence, the importance of shared religious centres and the relationship between belief and political decision-making. Continue to the Delphi Archaeological Museum to examine significant discoveries, including the bronze Charioteer.
After time for lunch, return to Athens. This is a full-day excursion involving substantial coach travel, with appropriate comfort stops.

Day 4 – Ancient Agora & National Archaeological Museum
Visit the Ancient Agora, once an important setting for commercial, social and civic life. Explore the archaeological remains and the Agora Museum in the reconstructed Stoa of Attalos, examining how material evidence helps us understand the activities of the ancient city. View the Temple of Hephaestus within the site.
In the afternoon, visit the National Archaeological Museum. Focus the guided visit on a selection of collections relevant to the group’s studies, such as Mycenaean civilisation, sculpture or ancient craftsmanship. Conclude with time for teacher-led reflection, connecting the day’s discoveries with the wider programme.
